From San Martín de los Andes, Argentina to Zapala

My motorcycle trip this time took me from San Martín de los Andes in southwestern Argentina to Zapala.

This distance is approximately 245 km.

I am leaving San Martín.

As I leave the town, the scenery that I often see in Patagonia unfolds before me.

I arrived in Junín de los Andes in about 40 minutes.

It seems this area is not very developed.

As soon as I left the town, I came to a fork in the road.

If I went straight here, I would reach the border with Chile.

This time, I will turn right to take the RN40.

I will drive carefully along the road where the llamas are.

This is the junction with RN234.

I will turn left here and proceed on RN40.

The scenery remained unchanged after that.

But this is Patagonia.

A strong crosswind relentlessly attacks me.

I left San Martín and arrived in Zapala in about 3 hours.

I’m heading straight for the city center.

This is the entrance to the city center, where San Martín Avenue is located.

I will soon arrive at the central square, Próceres Square.

On this trip, I was able to drive at a leisurely pace because I had plenty of time and wasn’t worried about the weather.

The only drawback was the lack of refueling stations along the way.
