My motorcycle trip this time is from San Carlos de Bariloche in southwestern Argentina to San Martín de los Andes.

The distance was approximately 190 km.

I am leaving Bariloche.

I drive downhill, heading east from the city center.

Then I went out to the outskirts of Bariloche.

It’s quite crowded around here.

I enjoy driving for a while, looking at the lake.

Then I cross the bridge and enter the Province of Neuquén.

It takes about 30 minutes to get here.

I’ll turn left here and continue on Route 40.

I continue on, enjoying the beautiful scenery.

I arrived at Villa La Angostura about 1 hour and 20 minutes after leaving Bariloche.

I refueled there.

At YPF, premium gasoline, Infinia, was AR$1.862/L, approximately USD 1.34.

For comparison, in San Martín it was AR$1.854/L.

Although cheaper than Chile, gasoline in Patagonia is still a bit expensive.

From here on, I will simply continue on my way across the Patagonian landscape.

This scenery is similar to the route from Coyhaique to Puyuhuapi in Chile.

About three hours after I left Bariloche, I finally saw San Martín.

And I arrived.

I’m going straight to Costanera.

And then I arrived at the signboard.

This trip wasn’t as breathtaking as usual, as I’ve already experienced riding through Patagonia. However, riding along the RN40 after entering Neuquén province, with its lakes and magnificent mountains, was a truly enjoyable experience.

Date of ride: March 20, 2026
