The engine stopped while driving

While I was riding my motorcycle through the town of Monte Hermoso, the engine suddenly stopped.

And then it wouldn’t start again.

This is a problem for me.

Luckily, I was only about two blocks from home, so I pushed it back.

A sudden stop while riding a motorcycle means…

No gasoline

Engine malfunction

Electrical system failure

Oil system

There are many possible causes, but I need to investigate them one by one.

The things that come to mind are the air filter and the spark plugs.

I replaced the air filter in Coyhaique, Chile, and have driven 6,500 km since then.

That’s a short distance, but I do a lot of riding on gravel roads.

I replaced the spark plugs in Bariloche, Argentina, and have driven 4,600 km since then.

These are standard plugs, not iridium or anything special, so I suspect these are the culprits.

For now, I’ll try removing the air filter.

Oh, that worked.

I checked this the other day, and at the time there wasn’t any dust, so I thought it was fine, but I’ll replace it just to be safe.

Next, I checked the spark plugs.

Hmm, this doesn’t seem particularly worn out.

I’ve decided to keep using it as is instead of replacing it with a new one.

For now, the engine starts, so there’s no problem, but motorcycles tend to develop various problems once they exceed 50,000 km.

It’s currently over 75,000 km.

It might be difficult to tour the northern area of ​​South America on this motorcycle.
