From Rancagua, Chile to Los Andes

My motorcycle trip this time will take me from Rancagua, Chile to Los Andes.

The distance is approximately 165 km.

I will make a detour to Santiago along the way.

I am leaving Rancagua.

I quickly merged onto Highway 5.

From here, I’m just heading north.

I entered the capital region about 20 minutes after departure.

And then I soon arrived at Peaje Troncal Angostura.

I paid $1,100 here, which is about USD 1.21.

I will continue on.

I entered Santiago about 45 minutes after leaving Rancagua.

I passed in front of the main square in Santiago.

It’s quite crowded here.

I have arrived at my destination for today.

The next day

I will leave Santiago

I will enter Highway North.

This place has an atmosphere similar to the Metropolitan Expressway in Tokyo, Japan.

I can’t see the scenery and I don’t know where I’m driving, so I rely on the navigation system.

I emerged from the tunnel.

These kinds of views are so refreshing.

Then I arrived at Peaje Las Canteras, which I had passed through without paying last time.

Here I paid $400, approx. USD 0.44.

I’ll leave here and head straight north.

Then I arrived at Peaje Chacabuco.

It says here that foreigners pay $1,400, but I paid $1,000, about USD 1.10.

When I checked later, it was the same $1,000 six months ago.

I enter the Valparaiso Region from the capital region midway through the tunnel.

I go through the tunnel and down the slope.

And then I get off the highway.

And then I entered Los Andes.

I’m heading straight for Plaza de Armas.

I soon arrived at Plaza de Armas.

My trip this time didn’t have any major highlights, but I did notice the traffic congestion once I entered the capital region.

As I also felt on my previous visit, the central area of ​​Santiago is heavily congested, so I need to avoid driving there as much as possible.

It was a pleasant drive to leave Santiago and head north.

I’m heading to Mendoza, Argentina, via the same route I took six months ago.
