From Comodoro Rivadavia, Argentina to Puerto San Julián

My motorcycle trip this time was from Comodoro Rivadavia, Argentina, to Puerto San Julián.

The distance was about 420 km.

This looks like it’s going to be a boring ride for me.

Since this is a windy area, I checked beforehand.

Based on my prior research, it appears wind speeds will exceed 20 meters per second on my planned departure date.

Since the previous day’s journey had winds around 10 meters per second, I decided to advance my departure by one day.

I will depart from Comodoro Rivadavia.

I left the city behind in about 15 minutes.

From here, my battle with the Patagonian winds begins.

About 30 minutes after departing from Comodoro Rivadavia, I crossed through Chubut Province and entered Santa Cruz Province.

This province is the southernmost province in Argentina and on the South American continent.

I have arrived at Caleta Olivia.

I will be leaving now.

And I drive through similar scenery once again.

I departed from Comodoro Rivadavia and arrived at Fitz Roy in about two hours.

I’ll refuel here.

Infinia is AR$1.639/L, USD 1.17.

I’ll turn back.

I drove about 130 km from Fitz Roy and arrived at Tres Cerros, the next fueling station.

Infinia costs the same as Fitz Roy.

Although the wind wasn’t particularly strong that day, a steady 10 km/s breeze blew from the west, making it difficult for me to maintain my balance.

And finally, if I turn here, I’ll arrive at Puerto San Julián.

After turning left and driving a short distance, I entered the town.

San Martín Avenue is the main street of the town, but it has a somewhat desolate atmosphere.

And I arrived at the replica of the Victoria ship in Costanera, the main tourist attraction.

It had been about five and a half hours since I left Comodoro Rivadavia.

This trip felt less affected by wind than my last one, but since I was traveling mostly in a straight line, the time spent enduring it felt very long.

The day after I had originally planned to depart, the wind was so strong that RN3 was closed to traffic. So, in the end, I was glad I left early.

In this area, I need to check not only the rain but also the wind information before proceeding.
