When the ignition switch of my motorcycle broke in an accident near the border of Jama, I couldn’t remove the screw, so I left it as it was.

The threads were stripped, and I think this part had grease applied to lock the screw in place.
I had no choice but to install a new lock on the outside, which was a bit awkward.

I inquired in several cities about removing the screws, but this is South America.
Even though this is a simple job, I didn’t want it done carelessly, so I couldn’t find a reliable workshop.
Finally, I found a repair shop in Tacna, Peru with good reviews, so I went there.
First, remove the handlebars and remove them from the top.

Ignition switch mount came off

Then he welds the screws and removes them with force.

The screws finally came out

In addition, I had the center stand slightly sanded down for a fine adjustment.
I had a prior appointment, so I waited five hours, but my work was completed in just 20 minutes.
The cost was S/.50, or about 14 USD.
That’s cheap!
A commemorative photo with Jose, an Ecuadorian who had already finished the repair, and Ito, who removed the screws.
It seems that Japanese customers are rare.

I didn’t have a very good impression of Peru, but things changed for the better in Tacna.
