My motorcycle trip this time was from Coyhaique to Puyuhuapi, Chile.

The distance was approximately 235km.

I was supposed to pick up my sprocket in Coyhaique, but it hasn’t arrived yet.

I was supposed to receive it on the 10th, but it’s still not here today, even though it’s the 16th.

What is express shipping?

I canceled the order and arranged for it to be picked up in Castro, Chiloé.

Fortunately, the sprocket and chain still seem to be in good condition.

However, this seems to result in a significant power loss, with the top speed dropping by about 15km/h compared to normal.

Since there are a lot of mountain roads here, this isn’t a problem.

Also, I had to go and weld a cracked section in the rear support.

And my center stand was once again warped, so I had it adjusted.

This was probably caused by hitting a rock.

I decided it would be best not to ride off-road.

Well, I’m leaving Coyhaique.

The weather isn’t good today.

It’s raining lightly.

After I go a little further, Google Maps tells me to turn right onto Route 7 (Carretera Austral), but I ignore it and continue straight on Route 240.

Although the distance would be shorter, I had already confirmed that the road was unpaved.

And as I continued on, the rain started to get heavier.

This was the first time I’d driven in the rain since I left Curuguay in Paraguay and headed to Asuncion.

I didn’t welcome this.

About 50 minutes after I set off, I came to a fork in the road that leads to Puerto Aysén.

I turned right here.

It’s a busy day with rain coming and going.

About an hour and a half after I left, I arrived in Villa Mañihuales.

I’ll refuel here.

Prices at COPEC are as follows:

This is slightly more expensive than Cerro Castillo.

When it’s sunny here, the view is beautiful.

Along the way, I came across a trap that made me consider turning back and going the wrong way.

This step is a bit difficult for a loaded motorcycle.

I managed to get over it.

About three hours after I set off, I arrived at the junction with Puerto Cisnes.

I turn right here.

Now, about 50km to go.

But then the road suddenly turned into an unpaved one.

The conditions here are bad: dirt roads, rain, and hills.

My only blessing is that the rain keeps the dust from kicking up.

Even when I look at Google Maps, it’s a terrible mountain road.

I’m going down this.

After I crossed the mountain pass, I continued on, enviously watching the lane next to me.

And finally, I was back on paved roads.

In the end, about 25km of the road was unpaved.

There were some unpaved roads after that, but I made good progress.

Finally, about 4 hours and 15 minutes after I left Coyhaique, I arrived in Puyuhuapi.

My trip this time was marred by rain and a dirt road downhill.

While the route wasn’t particularly difficult, I’m not sure I enjoyed it.

I plan to continue north.
