My motorcycle trip this time was from Iquique, the capital of northern Chile, to Tocopilla, a city in the Antofagasta region.
The distance was approximately 230km.

I’m leaving Iquique

I soon leave the city and head south along the coast.

It took me about 30 minutes to reach the toll booth in Chucumata.
The toll for a motorcycle was $450, or about 0.47 USD.

Then I drive down the same old road

Road construction begins just before El Loa.
Having experienced Bolivia’s national parks, this was an easy route for me.

In the end, construction continued for about 30 minutes until I got to the customs office just before El Loa.
I completed the procedures here.

I line up at the counter

Here I hand over the blue document I received when I entered Chile.

Then, I got a stamp on my back.

I showed this to the staff at the exit and passed through the gate.

Well, I’m on my way.
Once I pass through customs, I’ll soon be in Antofagasta.

I’m disappointed with the cloudy weather, but the smell of the sea is very pleasant.

I went through the tunnel

I walked down the hill and the town of Tocopilla came into view.

Tocopilla is more prosperous than I expected.

I left Iquique and arrived in the center of Tocopilla in about 3 hours and 15 minutes.

My journey this time was mostly just along the same road, but I enjoyed the view of the ocean.
If it had been a sunny day, I would have felt even better.
Also, I would have been more comfortable without the construction along the way.
There are many stray dogs in the town of Tocopilla, and they are particularly hostile towards motorcyclists, so we need to be careful.
