In an accident on my way to San Pedro de Atacama, the shield got a lot of scratches and was unusable.
I looked for a replacement shield, but it would be quite expensive to import from Spain.
So I decided to polish it myself.
First I used 320 grit to remove the scratches.

Next is number 1200

And 2000th

2500th
It’s pretty much clear now

I couldn’t find anything finer than 2500 grit in La Paz, so I went with metal paste.
This looks clear, but it’s actually a bit cloudy.

Lastly, the toothpaste.
This is much clearer than the previous one.
This is still not completely clear, but it is now at a level where it can be used, so I’m happy with this.

Apparently this would be even clearer if I used a solvent for acrylic, but it’s hard to find, so I’ll leave it as is.
I’ll buy a couple more the next time I go to Spain.
Not sure when I’ll be there.
