Motorcycle brake repair in Uyuni

I came from San Pedro de Atacama to Uyuni with my rear brakes not working.

I plan to stay in Uyuni for 4 days.

I also needed to have the screws removed to replace the front brake pads, so I looked for a repair shop.

And I had them replaced.

When I compared the old and new brake pads, they were clearly worn down.

I paid Bs.300, about 44 USD, to have the front and rear brake fluid replaced and the front brake pads replaced.

I had to buy the brake fluid myself, so I had to pay an additional Bs.60, about 8.75 USD.

I don’t have gasoline for them? When I asked, they said they would sell it to me for Bs.10 per liter, about 1.5 USD.

I asked for 20L and got gasoline.

This was very helpful to me because foreigners cannot buy gasoline in auxiliary tanks in Bolivia.

And there is a chronic gasoline shortage throughout Bolivia.

Gasoline prices in Bolivia are domestic and international, and foreigners pay about Bs.8.6 per liter, about 1.25 USD.

It is cheap when Bolivians buy it, but the reason it is cheap is because they subsidize it with taxes, not because they are charging foreigners an unfairly high price.

Bolivia buys gasoline from other countries, so the international price is the regular price.

This is a misconception among many foreigners.

Also, if we buy gasoline legally, we have to wait in line for several hours.

Considering that I will have to wait in line for several hours, Bs.10 per liter is cheap.

Now, I am ready to head to the next city, Oruro.
