Motorcycle Trip

Potosi to Sucre

I’m heading from Potosi, Bolivia to Sucre, the capital of Chuquisaca Department and constitutional capital of Bolivia.

It’s about a 150km journey from red to yellow on the map.

Although the distance is short, the elevation drop is about 1,000m.

I’m leaving Potosi

The city of Potosi has many hills and narrow roads, so I need to be careful.

Once I left the center of Potosi, the roads became easier to drive on.

I stopped after about 45 minutes of riding because I felt like the front wheel was slipping.

As I suspected, the front wheel was flat.

It seems that the paint inside the wheel had come off, causing a hole in the tube.

I fixed the flat tire and set off, but after a bit of driving the tire deflated again.

I was just before Betanzos, so I decided to have it fixed at Gomeria.

To deal with the problem, he used a flathead screwdriver to remove the chipped paint, then protected the tire tube with electrical tape.

The repair cost was Bs.30, or about 4.2 USD.

Now that the repairs are complete, I’m off.

After that, I passed the bridge that connects the departments of Potosi and Chuquisaca.

It took me about four hours to get to the center of Sucre after leaving Potosi.

So far, there are no problems with the engine.

What I learned this time

I think it’s important to regularly check the parts that you can’t normally see.
