I cross the border from La Quiaca, a city in northern Argentina, into Villazon, Bolivia.
This is the red part on the map.

The border is just a short distance from the centre of La Quiaca

Bolivia will join Mercosur in 2024, but the entry and exit procedures are still not easy, so I will introduce the steps.
1.Argentina’s exit procedures

First, I went to the building marked with a red arrow to go through the Argentine immigration process.
Since Argentina is paperless, I showed my passport and cedula.
At that time, I told them that I was taking my vehicle out and received my Passavante.

2.Argentine customs
Next, I get the passavante stamped with permission to take it out at Argentine customs.

The white building on the left in the background is Argentina customs.
3.Entering Bolivia
I walk across the bridge.

I went through immigration at the building on the right side after crossing the bridge.
*The photo was taken from the Bolivian side.

I’ll get my immigration card here.

4.Bolivian Customs
I walk back over the bridge and go to Bolivian Customs.

It is the building opposite the Argentine customs office.
Here, I will submit the following documents to customs.
・Passavante I got in Argentina
・Vehicle information document that I declared online in advance
※http://anbsw01.aduana.gob.bo:7601/sivetur/Parametro.jsp
Please register above.
・Cedula Verde (owner card)
・Vehicle insurance
・Passport
・My customs declaration
※I didn’t have my own customs declaration, so I scanned the QR code at the counter to declare it.

Aquí hay Wi-Fi, así que no tengo que preocuparme incluso si no puedo conectarme a Internet.
Una vez que entregue todos los documentos, prepararán los documentos para traerlos al vehículo, así que leeré el contenido y los firmaré.

5.Return to Argentina
I return to Argentina to pick up my motorcycle
Then I bring it to Bolivian customs for inspection
The vehicle number and motor number are checked at this time
6.Check at Argentine customs
After clearing Bolivian customs, I am checked by an Argentine official
7.Check at Bolivia
I ride my motorcycle across the bridge and show my documents to a Bolivian official near the gate

8.Health Check
In the building opposite, I answer questions about my health.

The check was completed quickly.
My immigration procedure to Bolivia was now complete.
I think it went smoothly, but it took about 30 minutes.
