I’m heading from San Miguel de Tucuman, the capital of Tucuman province, Argentina, to Cafayate, a famous tourist destination in the north of Argentina
Tafi del Valle
Amaicha del Valle
Quilmes Ruins
I’ll be passing through these
This is the 250km route from red to yellow on the map.

I’m entering the most interesting part of this trip.
First, it’s about 100km to Tafi del Valle.

At first, the road was flat, but I gradually started climbing up the mountain path.

The scenery has changed considerably

I arrived at Tafi del Valle in about 2 hours
I climbed from 500m above sea level to 2,000m
At 2,000m, my physical condition did not change

I refueled at YPF
At this point, the engine would not start, even though the starter would turn.
I turned the kill switch off and on twice, and the engine ignited.
This malfunction would cause problems later.
Now, I’m heading to Amaicha del Valle, 50km away, to visit the Pachamama Museum.

This road is through the wilderness
The road is in good condition
I arrived at my destination, the Pachamama Museum, in about an hour.

This place has a unique atmosphere.
The entrance fee is 5,000 pesos, about 4.2 USD.

Now, I’m heading to the Quilmes ruins, 20km away.

The wilderness here remains unchanged.
But the weather is so nice.
It’s the dry season now.

This is the entrance to the Quilmes ruins
I need to go west from Route 40

I drive about 5km down a sandy road.

I arrived at the Quilmes ruins about 30 minutes from Amaicha del Valle.

The ruins spread out before my eyes.

I’m going to climb anyway

This is near the summit
It’s been a while since I last exercised, so I’m pretty tired
I’m satisfied
The entrance fee is 7,000 pesos, about 5.9 USD
Now, I’m heading to Cafayate, about 50km away.

I head back from the ruins to Route 40.

I’m happy because the road is well maintained.

I enjoyed driving while looking at the scenery.

I arrived at my destination, Cafayate, in about an hour.
This time, the journey from Tucuman took about six hours, but I felt it was short because I was able to enjoy the roads along the way.
Date of ride: August 12, 2024
This time’s harvest
If I notice any abnormality in my motorcycle, I need to deal with it immediately.
