Motorcycle

Motorcycle Equipment May 2024

Before leaving Paraguay, I bought the bare minimum tools, security chains, smartphone holders, etc.

Considering the other maintenance tools I need to buy, I need a side bag

The side bag has a soft case

There are hard cases called pannier cases, which are made of plastic or aluminum.

When I think about which one to choose, the aluminum case is quite expensive, over $660 US for both sides.

And it’s quite heavy, weighing over 3kg.

And because there were issues with having to attach auxiliary brackets to fit the motorcycle, I chose a soft case this time.

I bought a GIVI EA101C, 30L for USD140.

I’ll see how it goes for now.

I had a nearby welding shop add some protrusions to hold the strings in place when carrying a backpack or something.

In South America, people drive on the right side of the road, so the roads slope to the right.

If I load my motorcycle with luggage and it gets heavy, the motorcycle becomes vertical, so when I stop it, it may tip over to the right.

In other words, the motorcycle needs to be leaning extremely to the left.

Since the motorcycle is pretty vertical even in normal conditions, I also had the side stand cut by about 3cm.

Finally, I had a guide made for me to mount a 10L spare tank on the back of the motorcycle.

Now I don’t have to worry about the tank flying off while I’m riding the motorcycle.

The motorcycle can travel about 270km with about 13L of gasoline, but I’m worried that’s not enough.

I can add 10L and the motorcycle can travel another 200km or more.

There are six protrusions on both sides.

Now I’m ready for now.

I’ll get the other things I need in Argentina.

I’m concerned about the wear on my tires, so the first thing I’ll do when I arrive in Argentina is change my tires.
